The plan is to provide accommodation for a wide range of customers by building two separate hotels aimed at different traveling budgets. One hotel is to be a new branch of the established Via Inn chain of economically priced business hotels. The adjoining building is to be a new brand of high class hotel which is as yet unnamed. Both hotels are due to open in the spring 0f 2019. The new Via Inn will be ten stories high and have 470 rooms, while the new brand hotel will be nine stories high and have 430 rooms.

The location of the two new hotels in relation to Kyoto Station
Kyoto has seen a sharp increase in tourist levels in recent years, particularly from overseas, and is currently facing an acute accommodation shortage with many tourists having to stay in neighboring cities. JR West hopes that these two new hotels, together with the luxury Granvia Hotel which is inside Kyoto Station, will help to ease this problem by providing accommodation suitable for domestic and foreign travelers who visit Kyoto either on business or for leisure.
