April 9, 2026

Travelers to Japan’s Tohoku region will have a new accommodation option in the region’s largest city of Sendai from this April. Hotel Metropolitan The Base Sendai is located just two minutes from the West Exit of Sendai Station and is intended to be a home-like base for accessing the region for both tourists and business travelers.

The new hotel has nine floors above ground with guest rooms from the second floor upwards. A total of 56 rooms are available, which include double and twin bed rooms, one universal twin room, and family-sized rooms that can accommodate up to four guests. The four-bed rooms come in two kinds with either flat beds or bunk beds, and are intended to serve the needs of families and group travelers.

The hotel rooms are designed to provide a “home-like living space with the comfort and functionality of a hotel.” All rooms have separate bathrooms and toilets, while the four-bed rooms also have their own microwave ovens, fridge-freezers, tableware, and cutlery.

The first floor is home to an all-day dining restaurant called AD-Base, which is open from 6:30 a.m. until 1:00 the following morning. Whether you need an early breakfast or a late-night cocktail, they’ve got you covered, often featuring fresh fruit from their own local farm. And guests that want to stay active, have free 24-hour access to the nearby Jexer Light Gym & Spa.
