Dorchester Collection to Open Ultra-Luxury Hotel in Japan’s Tallest Tower

Dorchester Collection are to open a new ultra-luxury hotel in Japan’s tallest skyscraper. The Torch Tower building, which is scheduled to open by Tokyo Station in 2027, will be 390 meters tall when complete and is destined to be a new iconic landmark on the Tokyo skyline.

The hotel company, Dorchester Collection, operates the prestigious Dorchester Hotel in London, England, as well as other luxury hotels in France, Italy and the United States. This will be the first Dorchester Collection hotel in Asia.

The new hotel will be located on the 53rd to 58th floors of Torch Tower and will have sweeping views over Tokyo Bay, the Imperial Palace, the bright lights of the city, and beyond that – Mount Fuji.

There will be 110 guest rooms with nature-inspired design motifs, soothing colors and warm lighting. Hotel interiors will be decorated with fine collections or art and antiques.

In addition to high-end restaurants and banquet halls, the hotel will have a pool, spa, and gym on the 54th floor. The hotel will also feature an interior entrance garden which will be an oasis of peace in the heart of the city.

The new Dorchester Collection hotel is scheduled to open in 2028 – and is expected to be one of the most expensive hotels in the city.

A life-size panel of Ishihara now stands at the northern end, turning the otherwise working platform into a small photo stop for fans and visitors. 

The structure still displays much of its original 1903 steelwork—one column even bears a “BV & Co Ltd 1902” casting mark—so the tribute sits within a platform that is itself part of a registered National Tangible Cultural Property, neatly linking local pop-culture nostalgia with the station’s early-20th-century railway heritage.
